Ever wonder what others think about your blog? I know I do and so does one of our curious reader: Ashley of AshleyUdoh. Ashley is a 20 something college graduate of University of Georgia. Come join her as she showcases her personal style, recipes and fitness. Best of all, she teaches you how to get the look for less. TJ Maxx, Marshalls and various thrift stores are her best friends. Now, who doesn't love that?
After reviewing her blog, here's what I like:
-Pictures- great quality
-Great page labels-especially since she writes on a variety of topics. This makes it easier for readers to navigate through the page and find what they're looking for.
-Good Social Icons
-Love the Instagram section
-Great about me page
-Like the fact that links to products/items featured on the post are listed.
-Cute signature- Love the 'Keeping Smiling' saying at the end of each post.
Now, here's what I think she can improve on:
-I suggest that you move the follower button more towrds the top.. It doesn't have to be at the very top of the page, it just shouldn't be at the very bottom. You want to make it easier for readers to find the "Follow" button.
-I like the banner.. however, I am not sure about the color block.
-There's a lot of white space at the bottom of the page (see blog layout at top of my page). Is there a reason for this? Maybe try two side bars- right and left. Try it and see how it looks.
-Some posts are long. You can try shorten the length of the post by adding the "Read More" button. That way it doesn't take so long to scroll to the bototm of the page and so there's less white space on the left side and bottom of the page.

Her design is great and photos gorgeous but I think you made some really valid points.
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion jazz up that banner a bit to showcase more of her personality. Grey is just kind of bleh. If it happens to be her favorite color then maybe she could add a pattern, like light grey stripes or polka dots.
Also, if when you hover over her displayed email address, if clicking on it would allow you to copy/paste or go right into the "mail-to" feature - it makes it so much easier for those trying to correspond with her :)
I am a big fan of Ashley's blog! Shes is stunning and so motivational - and did you check out that body? whoah girl!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the critique and think social media buttons would a little extra flair and make it easier to stay in touch over all the social media platforms. I just added social media buttons to my site and realised it isn't as difficult as it looks :)

Thank you for your suggestions! That banner has been quite the issue for me for a very long time. And a special thank you to Stacie, seriously just made my day.
