Ever wonder what others think about your blog? I know I do and so does one of our curious reader: Lau of Hananoire. Lau mainly blogs about beauty products and makeup tutorials, however, every now and then she talks about herself, life and everything in between. On her blog, Lau describes herself as a beauty lover, amateur artist / photographer and full time geek. Lol, that's cute! Anyway, her blog is definitely worth dropping by. Cute layout, don't you think? =)

After reviewing her blog,
Here's what I like:
-Cute layout and banner- a little dark, but cute.
-Posts are very informative- have lots of details and pictures.
-Love the icon buttons and 'Recent Posts' section
-Love love love the 'Current Giveaway' section. Very neat.
-I bascially love her whole side bar--- love the 'Awards I received', buttons, current giveaway section, etc-- anything you need to know about her blog, you can find it on the side bar. Love that!!
-A good start to 'About me'
-Youtube channel for her makeup tutorials. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have makeup tutorial videos. I find it easier to follow a video than pictures.

Here's what I think she can improve on:
-I like the background, but it's a bit too dark for me.
-Pictures are also a little dark. There are many good free and easy to use programs that can help you edit photos.
-Instead of placing the widget tabs (about me, giveaway, makeup tutorial, yay or nay) at the bottom of the page, you should move it to the top-- you want to place this where readers can see it.
-Cute 'Lets stay conntected' section.. but this should be placed in a spot where readers can easily see or find. I don't want to and wouldn't know to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the contact info. Listing contact info is very important as mentioned in my other critiques.
Hmm, that's all I can think of... What do you guys think? Lau is still relatively new to the blogging world so any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Let her know by leaving a comment below. We would love to hear your thoughts. As always, constructive criticism is welcome. =)

  1. I really like your blog:) I think the pictures and the background look great, but I do think that your sidebars are a little bit too busy. Maybe think about removing some of the stuff on the side. Other than that, it looks great.

  2. I honestly love the whole blog. The darkness may be a theme color or mood at the moment to which I am no problem with because at least they compliment each other.

If you find people complaining that its messy try maybe making the blog wider so you have more space for your side bars or maybe separate the blog into three columns for proper organization.

    Good job!

  3. I like her blog! The posts are well written, there's not too much going on in the sidebars, and I like her style of writing. I do agree the photos are a bit dark, but it could be the filter she is applying if she is using picasa.

  5. I love her content and layout they are both very strong and interesting to read. I would suggest not putting product photos thru instagram as it distorts the actual color of the product.

One more thing I would get rid of the blogger nav bar at the top by adding this code to the Template>Advanced>Add CSS tab

    #navbar-iframe { display: none !important; }

  6. First and foremost I'd like to thank the host of this critique post, Blog Love Therapy for their very insightful and constructive criticism.
Then of course I'd like to thank all of you who took, and take, the time to visit my blog, read some of my posts and then come back here to offer your two cents on my work. I very much appreciate all of your suggestions and compliments; I've already implemented some of your ideas, which mainly were about the cluttered sidebar, and aired it a little bit by removing some items and spacing things out. I'm still working on a new, more interesting header, but I still wish to maintain a bit of the 'darkness' some of you talked about. My blog reflects many aspects of my personality, therefore some things can't be changed, otherwise it'd turn into someone else's blog, but I believe it to be a work in progress and there's always going to be room for improvement... I've changed the social network icons several times since I started and I'm still not happy with them LOL
Anyway, thank you all so much again for your kind words and recommendations and also for your encouragement, which means a great deal to me. xo Lau

  7. I really enjoy your blog being dark, I just think you're whole website should be wider.
